Steamboats on the Red River. A Very Short History of Steam Navigation the Red.
Between 1859 and 1887 steamboats provided an important transportation link in Clay County. Hear the whistle from the Red River steamer the International!

A Few Thoughts About Red River Carts. Between the 1820s and 1870s, these all-wood, two-wheeled, carts were the semi-trucks of their day, hauling furs south from Canada and trade goods north from St. Paul. Hear the carts' famous squeak!
